1. Which social media websites do you use?
I mainly use Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Instagram is great for following friends, trends, and creative content, while LinkedIn helps me stay connected with professional contacts. I also use Facebook to keep in touch with family members and friends who live in different countries. These platforms help me stay updated on both personal and professional fronts.
2. How much time do you spend on social media sites? [Why/Why not?]
I try to limit my time on social media to about an hour a day. While it’s a great way to stay connected and informed, I don’t want to spend too much time scrolling aimlessly. I focus on being productive and prefer to use my time for activities like reading or exercising. However, sometimes I spend more time on it when I’m catching up with friends or checking out new trends.
3. What kind of information about yourself have you put on social media? [Why/Why not?]
I’ve put basic information about myself, like my name, profile picture, and educational background on social media. On platforms like LinkedIn, I also share my professional experiences and achievements. However, I’m careful not to post too many personal details, like my phone number or home address, because I value my privacy and understand the risks involved with oversharing online.
4. Is there anything you don’t like about social media? [Why?]
Yes, one thing I don’t like about social media is how addictive it can be. It’s easy to lose track of time while scrolling, and I think it sometimes promotes unrealistic standards of beauty and success. Additionally, the spread of misinformation is a major issue on these platforms, which can have serious consequences. I try to be mindful of these downsides and limit my usage accordingly.
PART 2: Speaking Cue Card Topic
Describe something you liked very much which you bought for your home.
You should say:
- what you bought
- when and where you bought it
- why you chose this particular thing
- and explain why you liked it so much.
You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. And you have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.
Sample Answer:
One thing I bought for my home that I really liked was a large, modern bookshelf. I purchased it about six months ago from a furniture store in my city. And I had been searching for a good storage solution for my growing collection of books, and this particular bookshelf caught my eye because of its sleek design and ample space.
I chose this one specifically because it not only fit perfectly in the corner of my living room, but it also had a unique style that matched the rest of my décor. It has a combination of open shelves and cabinets, which allows me to display my favorite books and decorative items, while also hiding away any clutter.
I liked it so much because it really transformed the look of the room and gave it a more organized and cozy feel. It’s functional, stylish, and has become a focal point in my home where I often spend time reading or relaxing.

2. Do you think it is very expensive to make a home look nice?
It can be expensive to make a home look nice, but it doesn’t always have to be. Some people invest in high-end furniture or designer decor, which can be quite costly. However, others are able to create a beautiful home on a budget by shopping smartly, using DIY projects, or buying second-hand items. It really depends on individual taste and how much someone is willing to spend. With creativity, even affordable items can make a home look stylish and welcoming.
3. Why don’t some people care about how their home looks?
There could be several reasons why some people don’t care much about how their home looks. For some, they might lead very busy lives and simply don’t have the time or energy to focus on home decoration. I also think that as urbanization increases, homes may become more compact and multifunctional, with furniture that can be transformed to save space. 6. Do you agree that the kinds of homes people prefer change as they get older?
Yes, I agree that people’s preferences for homes often change as they get older. When people are young, they might prefer smaller apartments or shared living spaces, as these are often more affordable and located near urban centers. However, as they grow older, especially when they start families, they may seek larger homes with more space and a backyard. Later in life, as children move out and maintaining a large house becomes more challenging, people might downsize to a smaller, more manageable home or apartment.
